Would the lore writers please do us a favor and consider adding or modifying the lore to include at least 1 #*@@!%% character, 1 gay character, 1 bisexual character and 1 transgendered character? C’mon, throw us a bone here! It’s 2006, not 1906.
I could go off here, but I don’t have the time, nor the energy. We play these games to escape the real world. And in the real world, everything you ever see hear or touch has to be PC, if it isn’t currently, somebody is trying to make it that way.
I don’t give a flying crap if somebody is gay, black, white, fat, furry, Christian, pagan, or fucking purple.
You know why there aren’t any gays in Azeroth, because there is no sex in Azeroth (not by design anyway). Any relationships that are portrayed are heterosexual because 99% of the polulation is heterosexual, and sexuality is not relevant in any way to the game.
Why aren’t there any characters portrayed with Polio? Or why don’t any of the NPCs have uncontrollable flatulence, or even have a huge love for Pizza, or girls who wear thigh highs?
Because it is not fucking relevant.
So, because these games are made by people (gay people, white people, black people, all kinds of people) you will see their ideas and lives bleed into the game. I am sure that there are plenty of references to transgenders, gays and other groups in the game. But NONE of this is going to be as outwardly represented is the person requesting it would want.
Why? The same reason as when I meet somebody I don’t say “Hello, I am Joe, and I am heterosexual.” I don’t need to announce it. And I don’t expect that when I meet a person who is gay, that they say “Hi, my name is Jim, and I am a homosexual”.
It’s not needed, shouldn’t be expected, and it’s fucking ridiculous.
